Colombian Coffee Pod Considerations
Roast
The roast of your coffee is immensely important. It will affect both the flavor and the caffeination of your drinks.
Light roast, for instance, tends to result in a light and fruity flavor. Because Colombian coffee naturally has its own fruity or floral elements, it makes an excellent light roast coffee.
Medium roast is undoubtedly the most popular roast, however. It slightly reduces the acidity in the flavor and accentuates sweet notes. The majority of Colombian coffee pods you find will be a medium roast, including the ones on this list.
After that, you’ll find medium-dark and dark roasts. As the coffee beans are roasted longer, they get oily and lose their acidity almost completely. The resulting flavor is bittersweet. You generally won’t find many pods that are medium-dark or dark roast for Colombian coffee.

Machine Compatibility
Coffee pods are generally designed with particular brewers in mind. Before you choose any pods, make sure you confirm what type of coffee maker you have and whether the pods you’re interested in are compatible with it.
You’ll generally find which machines a pod is compatible with near the top of the product listing. Sometimes, this information will even be listed in the name. For example, it might say K-Cups for Keurigs or Nespresso for Nespresso brewers.
Caffeination
One last thing to consider is whether you want caffeinated coffee. If you’re looking for something that will give you an energy boost, then you’ll clearly want caffeine.
However, there are plenty of reasons to choose decaf, too. You might be the type of person who gets sick from caffeine or you might prefer a coffee to enjoy in the evenings without keeping you awake late into the night. In that case, we’d obviously recommend a decaf pod.
Like with the machine compatibility, you can usually determine this near the top of the product listing or in the name of the pod.
Wrap Up
Colombian coffee is immensely popular. There are plenty of reasons for this, but the main one is likely the rich fruity and sweet flavors these beans are known around the world for.
It’s no surprise that there are numerous Colombian coffee pod options out there if you have a pod-compatible brewer. Our personal favorite on this list is the SF Bay Coffee Colombia Supremo Medium Roast Compostable Pods. We love that they’re compostable, and they have an amazingly fresh taste that you won’t find in just any pod.
